All class proceeds (donations) will help rebuild Bikram Yoga Sapphire Coast to bring yoga back to the local community

THE IMPACT OF THE AUSTRALIA WILDFIRES
ON ONE YOGA COMMUNITY

We have all been horrified by images on our TVs and newsfeeds of the catastrophic bushfires ravaging Australia. Even our worldwide Bikram Yoga family has not been immune to the devastation.

As the world celebrated the dawn of a new decade, a longtime BYL client, Sam, approached us with the sad news that Bikram Yoga Sapphire Coast, along with most of the homes and businesses in the small town of Cobargowhich it serves, had been completely destroyed in the Australian wildfires.

BYSC studio founder and owner Amrei Marden, an inspirational and dedicated teacher, has begun teaching in a borrowed tennis court with donated mats, where, driven by overwhelming requests from the locals, she is providing classes for free to those made homeless by the fires.

THE STRENGTH OF A YOGA COMMUNITY

As are many dedicated Bikram yoga studios around the world, Bikram Yoga Sapphire Coast is a lifeline within the local Cobargo community.

It serves as strong testimony to the healing, transformational power of the original ‘26 & 2’ hot yoga practice that we know and love, that the immediate response among the local people, many of whom have lost their homes and more, is that they wanted their studio rebuilt as soon as possible.

They are driven by the idea that coming back to the normality of their regular Bikram yoga practice can help their town to heal and process the trauma. The BYL studio community can help speed up the healing, with our love, our energy, our resources – and our yoga!

JOIN IN OUR SHARED EXPERIENCE HELPING A
COMMUNITY HALFWAY AROUND THE WORLD!

Many around the world have donated time or money to help in various Australia relief efforts to aid recovery. While there are any number of meaningful ways one can help make a difference, we decided to focus our efforts on helping raise funds for BYSC to take its first steps in rebuilding its premises, and as a result, its important place within the local community.

Accordingly, BYL will be holding a special donation class at London Bridge on Sunday 16th Feb at 2PM in place of the Advanced class that is normally held on that day. All proceeds from the class will go towards helping rebuild BYSC.

The class will be led by not one, but two Senior BYL teachers, World Yoga Champions, Ky Ha and Almania Colombo. If you haven’t experienced their classes, you’re in for a very special treat, particularly as you’ll enjoy not one but two of these amazing teachers leading you through what promises to be a pure 90 minute Bikram yoga session!

So, yogis, we are offering you a special chance to join in our collective mission to make a direct difference while enjoying a superb class jointly led by Ky and Almania!

There is no set class fee. Simply pay what you can (kindly note that this special donation class will be cash only). Whether you are able to pay £5, £10, £20 (our normal Drop-in rate), or more, your donation will be most welcome!

Come join us for a very special class of the original hot practice we all know and love! ALL levels are encouraged to attend. Just bring your cash donation, your dedication and your sense of humour, as you’re in for a superb treat of a class led by two World Champions!

Book in Advance, Arrive Early

We recommend booking online in advance via our MindBody site here (the class can be booked online at no charge).

Please log in using your existing BYL credentials (please don’t create a new profile if you have an existing one!)

On the day, please try to arrive 20-30 minutes prior to the class with your cash donation. Depending on how busy it gets, if you have booked online and not arrived within 15 minutes prior to class, you may lose your space.

For those who’ve not booked online in advance, spaces will be offered on a first come, first served basis (we will do our best to accommodate everyone).

Pay What You Can – Bring Cash

While this can be booked online as a free class, we ask for a donation in lieu of the normal class fee. Any amount you’re happy to donate will absolutely be appreciated (our normal Drop-in rate is £20 but really any amount helps)!

100% of the cash donations for class fees will be provided to BYSC’s designated fund. The teachers, Ky and Almania, are also donating their time.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday 16 FEB, 2PM at London Bridge!
