The practise of Kundalini yoga is supposed to arouse the sleeping Kundalini Shakti from its coiled base through the 6 chakras, and penetrate the 7th chakra, or crown. Known as “the yoga of awareness”, Kundalini yoga focuses on our creative spiritual potential to uphold values, speak the truth, and focus on the compassion and consciousness needed to serve and heal others.

Incorporating both spiritual and physical aspects of yoga, Kundalini Yoga incorporates movement, dynamic breathing techniques, meditation, and the chanting of mantras. The goal is to build physical vitality and increase consciousness.

Is this class suitable for beginners?

Kundalini is generally fine for beginners.

What do I need to bring?

For all our classes you’ll need a yoga mat, two large towels and a bottle of water (all these items are rentable at the studio).

What is the temperature? Will it be manageable for me?

Kundalini yoga at BYL is done at 36°C-38°C, a little cooler than some of our other classes.

What's the calorie burn? Will I lose weight?

Clients have been measured at our studio burning 1400+ calories, however the general consensus for those doing this (90 minute) class with reasonable effort is that you’ll burn around 800-1000 calories.
